The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Birim Central, Solomon Brako, has broken his silence following comments made by the Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah, regarding tension between the two leaders.
Speaking on The Verdict hosted by Isaac Addae on Tuesday, August 28, 2025, Mr. Brako claimed that the MP’s recent statements were motivated by his decision to revoke a controversial market contract that had been awarded to a private company under questionable circumstances.
He revealed that the market project, which was built through the District Assemblies Common Fund, had been handed over to a private entity without the approval of the Assembly, a move he described as irregular.
“The market that was built by Common Fund when I assumed office, they had given that market to a private company without the approval of the Assembly,” he explained. “The contract was from the RCC to that private company. We investigated and discovered that the company was registered as a sole proprietorship and failed to regularize the agreement with the municipality within 14 days as required.”

According to the MCE, his insistence that the company vacate the market site did not sit well with the MP, who he alleges has since been trying to undermine his authority.
“We are saying the people should go away, and the MP does not understand why I said that,” he said. “He talks to a lot of people, promising them that he is going to bring me down and that he will make sure the President relieves me of my position. But as long as the President listens to facts and not accusations, that will not happen.”

Mr. Brako’s comments come as a direct response to Hon. Acquah’s earlier claims that their relationship had deteriorated due to political rumors and social media exchanges.
