National Security late Friday evening released a journalist of ModernGhana, Emmanuel Britwum, after raiding their offices.
However, Starrfm.com.gh can confirm the deputy editor Emmanuel Ajarfor is still in custody at the National Security Headquarters in Accra.
Britwum has since reunited with his family, having been released on bail, sources confirmed to Starrfm.com.gh.
On Thursday, operatives of National Security raided the offices of the online portal following an opinion piece published about the National Security Minister Albert Kan Dapaah and NPP MP Afenyo-Markin.
Laptops belonging to the online media outfit were also seized in the course of the raid.
ModernGhana has been in operation since 2005.
ATTACK ON MEDIA
Meanwhile, The Press Foundation has called on the National Security to explain the reasons behind the arrest of the two journalists. National Security has been silent over the issue.
Executive Director of The Press Foundation, Mr. Listowell Yesu Bukarson, believes that, the media deserve more than what he called, “sheer acts of intimidation” in these times and era of massive calls for press freedom.
Mr. Bukarson added, “regardless of their crimes, the media deserve some information about the whereabouts of their colleagues and or reasons for their arrest.”
Otherwise, according to him, “these kinds of arrests can only be akin to intimidation of the media, which attacks cannot, and must not be allowed to fester”.
Mr. Bukarson called on stakeholders of the media to mount pressure on the national security, to at least afford the media space the required information on the two journalists.
