MultiChoice Ghana, operators of DStv has finally eaten the humble pie after facing huge public backlash over misconceptions arising from an earlier claim that its new value-enhanced packages were part of a promotion set to end on December 31, 2025.
In its initial Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), the company indicated that the packages were part of a temporary promotion set to end on December 31, 2025. However, in a subsequent statement issued, MultiChoice clarified that the new packages are not promotional and apologised for what it described as a misleading impression created by the FAQs.
“We apologise for any inconvenience the FAQs may have caused,” the company stated, while stressing that it fully supports the joint media statement announced by the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation, the National Communications Authority (NCA), MultiChoice Africa and MultiChoice Ghana. It added that implementation of the agreement is already underway.
The clarification comes after weeks of heated debate over DStv pricing and value delivery in Ghana. MultiChoice confirmed that under the new arrangement, customers; whether existing, returning or new; are free to choose any bouquet.
The company further disclosed that the Parliamentary Committee on Communications will reconvene in three months to assess the impact of the initiative, describing the review as a “periodic exercise” to ensure the value package continues to meet consumer expectations.
The latest statement is seen as an attempt to calm tensions after sharp exchanges between industry regulators and operators over DStv’s pricing and bouquet structure.
