The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has congratulated the newly elected national executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urging them to promote mutual respect and ensure that Ghana’s national interest remains above partisan considerations.
The NDC said the new NPP leadership has an opportunity to contribute to a more constructive political environment and strengthen Ghana’s democratic institutions.
In a statement on Monday, October 5, 2026, and signed by NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the governing party reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful political engagement and democratic values.
“The National Democratic Congress (NDC) congratulates the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the successful election of its new national executives over the weekend,” the statement said.
The NDC urged the new executives to foster mutual respect and ensure political competition does not overshadow the broader interests of the country.
“It is the fervent hope of the NDC that under the tenure of this new crop of executives, there will be mutual respect to ensure that the interest of Ghana always surpasses the narrowest interest of the respective parties, so the mission of making Ghana great and strong will be boosted,” it stated.
The party also stressed the collective responsibility of political actors to protect Ghana’s democratic gains.
“The NDC remains committed to the promotion of peaceful political engagement, democratic values and the collective responsibility of all political actors to protect and deepen Ghana’s democracy,” the statement added.
The NPP’s national executive elections have ushered in a new leadership team to steer the affairs of the opposition party and strengthen its structures ahead of the next phase of its political activities.
John Boadu was elected National Chairman, while Justin Kodua Frimpong retained his position as General Secretary.
Former Delta Force commander Kojo Bamba was also elected First National Vice Chairman.
The new executives are expected to lead the NPP’s political mobilisation, strengthen its grassroots structures and position the party for future electoral contests.
