The National Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, Hon. Yakubu Abanga has issued a strong rebuttal to claims by Concerned Small Scale- Miners Association (CSSMAG) accusing him and other figures in the NDC of forming a parralell anti- illegal mining taskforce extorting from miners across the country.

In a statement issued on Sunday, July 14, Hon. Yakubu Abanga fiercfully denied the allegation describing it as baseless, malicious and politically motivated.

“Let me place it on record, without ambiguity: I have absolutely no hands in, and I know nothing about these allegations. I challenge anyone who claims otherwise to be bold and point to me directly. If I have ever extorted money from any miner or seized any equipment, let them mention my name publicly,” he declared.

He expressed concern about attempts to associate his name with criminal activities and questioned the motives behind what he described as orchestrated falsehood aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

The NDC National Vice Chairman stated that as a licensed Small Scale Miner himself, he acknowledge challenges facing genuine miners hence remain committed to promoting lawful and responsible mining within regulation frame work.

He stressed that neither he nor the National Organizer of NDC, Joseph Yamin, has ever authorized any individual or group to carry out enforcement or operations in any mining community adding that anyone using their names for such activities is an impostor who must be arrested and prosecuted.

Hon. Abanga also exposed a glaring inconsistency in the CSSMAG’s own claims — revealing that the Mobile Money number (0244254231), which the group alleged belongs to one Andrew Abban, is actually registered to Roland Agudogo.

He described this as a clear act of impersonation and deceit calculated to mislead the public and defame innocent individuals.

“Their intent is to tarnish my hard-earned reputation, and we condemn it outright,” he asserted.

Hon. Abanga used the opportunity to reaffirm the core mission of the NDC under its Resetting Agenda, highlighting the party’s commitment to restoring the economy, creating meaningful jobs for the youth, and making Ghana a suitable place for all to live.

He urged the public to disregard what he termed fake, sponsored articles and propaganda intended to divert attention from the real issues confronting the country.

“Our focus is to restore hope, create meaningful jobs for the youth, and make Ghana a suitable place for all to live. These fake, sponsored articles and propaganda should be disregarded by the good people of Ghana,” he stated.

He concluded by assuring the public that no amount of falsehood will derail the party’s vision for a better Ghana, as the NDC remains focused on responsible leadership and national progress”.

The statement concluded assuring that no amount of falsehood will derail the party’s vision for a better Ghana, reaffirming the NDC government’s commitment to protecting sustainable development and safeguarding the environment for generations.
