A communicator for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Samuel Ayeh has critiqued the five aspirants vying for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership, describing the contest as a “race to the bottom.”
Speaking on GHOne TV’s Morning Show, GH Today, on Monday, January 27, 2026, Dr. Ayeh argued that the contenders for the 2028 ticket lack the moral authority and professional track record to lead the country.
He asserted that the current crop of NPP aspirants failed to prove their capabilities when they served in various government roles while the party was in power.
”The race they are doing is a race to the bottom [because] none of them have the capability or any moral right to claim any position in government,” Ayeh stated.
He suggested that the aspirants’ collective record in the current administration disqualifies them from seeking higher office in 2028.
Dr. Ayeh particularly targeted the former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who he said performed abysmally when he was made the head of the Economic Management Team (EMT).
He reminded Ghanaians that when Dr. Bawumia performed abysmally when he was entrusted with the management of the economy by President Akufo-Addo.
Dr. Ayeh contended that the electorate has already made up its mind regarding the former Vice President’s performance.
“Ghanaians will not look at his face anymore. They are looking at a performing government,” he added.
