NPP Reg. Youth Organizer, Chiefs deny land encroachment allegations by Kweiman chief

Greater Accra Youth Organizer for the governing New Patriotic Party, Moses Abor and chiefs of Danfa, Amrahia and Oyarifa have denied allegations of encroachment made against them by Chief of Kweiman Nii Anang Amartey.

According to the chief, 40% of lands acquired by the state for Dairy Farms in the 70s released to the indigenes are being appropriated by some individuals using land guards.

Speaking on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey, Nii Anang Amartey singled out Mr. Abor as the one responsible for the troubles on the said lands.

Moses Abor however flatly denied the allegation. He told Naa Dedei Tettey on Morning Starr the claims by the Kweiman chief came to him as a shock given his previous cordial relationship with him in an attempt to reach an amicable settlement with government.

According to the NPP Youth Organizer, the claims of the Kweiman Chief are false. He explained government upon releasing the land to the 4 different traditional authorities in Danfa, Oyarifa, Amrahia and Kweiman in 2020 sent officials this year to demarcate for each of the communities.

Mr. Abor explained that his only involvement in the matter is to ensure peace as the government seeks to return the land to the rightful owners. According to him he is in talks with his lawyers to take legal action against the chief for tarnishing his reputation.

“I’m very happy the truth has come out. I am a very principled person. When I’m doing something with you and I see that the road is not clear, I will not further it. I will come back and check whether what I’m doing is right or not. There are many things he (Chief of Kweiman, Nii Anang Amartey) is doing that I don’t think will be helpful to him. At the end of the day, what the chiefs want is for government to give them their 40%, which the government has taken steps to honor. Two weeks ago officials were sent to have the demarcation done.

After the demarcation it was revealed that the Kweiman Chief has already sold some parcels of land.

“But I’ll not leave the matter. I’ll sue him to produce evidence about me selling lands as he alleged because I’m a young guy coming up. I have an ambition and I will not sit down for someone to just go to the media to damage my image. I’ll take the matter up. I’ve spoken to my lawyers and I’ll take it from there. If what he’s saying is the truth, then why is that out of the 5 chiefs concerned he’s the only one making these claims.”

“Even in Kweiman there are two families laying claim to the land. One of the families claiming he wants to cheat them and we don’t want that to happen. What government has given to them, they should share it accordingly but he wants to cheat everybody.”

Speaking to Starr News in the presence of chief of Oyarifa, Amrahia, Danfa Chief Nii Dzane Tsuru Afutu Brempong IV disclosed he reported the case of encroachment on his lands to the Oyibi police command.

The Regional Command then invited Oyibi commander over the case. According to him some personnel from the Adentan police command later arrested his workers on site. He was subsequently invited for questioning where he provided every necessary information needed.

According to him, subsequently he went to the Lands Commission to secure the site plan for the entire land released to the traditional authorities. Chief of Kweiman however rejected the plan from the commission. The case is still with the police.

Secretary to the Nii Kwei Mensah family Samuel Amarh Laryea, and chief of Oyarifa

Nii Ayitefio Djata I, indicated they are in readiness to accept the demarcation done by government to ensure peace reigns.
