Order Anas’ arrest – Group to Akufo-Addo

A group calling itself Patriotic Advocates for Truth, Peace and Development, Ghana, has called on President Akufo-Addo to direct  National security to effect the arrest of investigative journalist Anas Aremeway Anas.

According to the group, some reports in the media suggest that the popular journalist uses his investigations to enrich himself and not to promote public good, as Ghanaians believe.

In a statement, the group noted the strategies of Anas in gathering evidence for his work is unethical and inappropriate.

“As a pressure group with an objective to support the fight against corrupt practices in our motherland, the Patriotic Advocates for Truth, Peace and Development, Ghana, has serious concerns about the manner which Anas  Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI conduct their investigations related to corrupt practices in the country.

“To commence with, just before the publication of his latest work, there have been extensive reports in the mainstream and social media about Anas and his Tiger Eye PI coming out with a serious expose purported to also involve some former officials of the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama regime, but this was never premiered.

“We, Patriotic Advocates for Truth, Peace and Development, Ghana want to know from Anas what has prevented him from showing the expose?  Is Anas and his Tiger Eye PI telling the good people of this country that the video which was meant to expose those former government appointees is not relevant anymore?,” the group said.

The statement further noted: “Just at the beginning of this week, another shocking revelation that Patriotic Advocates for Truth, Peace and Development, Ghana, monitored was on an Accra based station, Okay FM when its host host, Kwame Nkrumah Tekesie, an experience and renowned broadcaster, claimed that Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his boss are alleged to have demanded a whooping amount of GHC500,000  from a man they succeeded in filming recently.  In the audio tape we were made to understand that Anas threatened the victim of exposing their “rots” if they failed to settle.

“By this, Patriotic Advocates for Truth, Peace and Development, Ghana, is making an appeal to the president of the Republic of Ghana and the Commander in Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to direct National Security and other state security agencies to effect the arrest of Anas Aremeyaw Anas for interrogation since he wants to take Ghanaians for granted. We insist, his modus operandi deserves to be condemned and desist from tarnishing the reputation of hardworking receptable people in our society”.
