Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has played down concerns over Ghana’s qualification hopes after their 1-1 draw with Chad in Thursday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
The result in N’Djamena saw Ghana drop points late on, narrowing their lead at the top of Group I. With Comoros’ weekend victory moving them within a point of the Black Stars, the race has tightened, but Addo remains upbeat.
“The positive truth is that nothing has changed. We were three points ahead of second place, and although Comoros are closing in, qualification is still in our hands,” he told the media.
Addo has now shifted focus to Monday’s clash against Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium, which he described as crucial for Ghana’s campaign.
“We wanted to beat Chad, but it didn’t happen. Tomorrow is another chance, and we will give everything to win. The important thing is that we can still decide our own destiny,” he emphasized.
Ghana, who have featured at four previous World Cups, are determined to book their place at next year’s tournament in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
