Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has warned that despite their dominant 3-0 win over Madagascar on Monday, qualification for the 2026 World Cup is not yet secured.
Ghana solidified their lead in Group I with a commanding performance on Matchday Six of the qualifiers at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium in Morocco.
Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus found the net to secure victory for the Black Stars, with Jordan Ayew providing assists for all three goals.
However, in his post-match interview, Addo emphasized the need for the team to stay focused.
“We are in a good position [to qualify for the 2026 World Cup], but this is also dangerous,” Addo said at the post-match press conference.
“Now, I am thinking about how to keep our heads focused [because] the job is really not done. Maybe if Comoros wins, it’s just a three-point gap ahead of Comoros, and it’s still a long way to go. We have to stay focused. If anyone thinks we are through, then he’s making a big mistake.”
With four matches remaining in the qualifiers, Addo urged his players to stay focused and avoid complacency.
“I have seen a lot of football, a lot of things happening, and we have to stay focused. I am happy, but like I said, the job is really not done,” he reiterated.
Ghana will now shift focus to the next round, where they will face Chad and Mali in Matchday 7 and 8 fixtures.
