The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that Parliament will soon consider an appropriate fee for the Mobile Passport Application Centre initiative.
The initiative is designed to bring passport application services closer to institutions and individuals who wish to have their biometric data captured at their preferred locations.
According to the Minister, the initiative is expected to become a permanent feature of passport application services under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mr Ablakwa announced this during an engagement with staff of the Ashanti Regional Passport Application Centre (PAC) on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, as part of an official working visit.
He described the initiative as an innovative approach to improving service delivery while generating revenue to support the development and renovation of passport application centres across the country.
The Minister also highlighted a surge in revenue following the introduction of new innovations, compared with previous years.
He, however, stressed the need for further improvements in passport service delivery to ensure the public receives more efficient and accessible services.

The proposed fee for the mobile service is expected to be considered by Parliament, although the Ministry has not specified the amount to be charged.
The initiative forms part of efforts to expand access to passport application services and support improvements in the country’s passport administration infrastructure.
