The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has procured 20 pick-up vehicles for Passport Application Centres across the country as part of efforts to improve service delivery and enhance staff mobility.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, disclosed this during a working visit to the Ashanti Regional Passport Application Centre, his first since assuming office.
He said the procurement formed part of deliberate efforts to revamp passport offices nationwide and improve working conditions for staff.
During the visit, Mr Ablakwa observed that some vehicles currently being used by the centres were no longer efficient, highlighting the need to replace them to support operations.
He also identified the need to replace some equipment, including computers and furniture, to improve operational efficiency.
The Minister made the observations during a meeting with staff, which was aimed at gaining firsthand insight into the challenges confronting the centre and understanding the realities of its daily operations.

He said improving staff working conditions was essential to enabling them to perform their duties effectively and deliver efficient services to the public.
