The Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana (PFAG) has honoured theMinister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, for his outstanding leadership and commitment to improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers across Ghana.
The recognition was conferred during PFAG’s 20th anniversary celebrations, marking two decades of advocacy and support for farmers nationwide.
In a citation presented to the Minister, the association commended him for his “incredible support, interest, and dedication” to the welfare of its members, noting that he has demonstrated “leadership, courage, and conviction” in executing his mandate through the development of farmer-centred policies and programmes.
The PFAG described the impact of the Minister’s initiatives as unprecedented, highlighting his open-door policy, collaborative approach, and consistent stakeholder engagement as key drivers of progress within the agricultural sector.
“Your particular interest and concern for members of the Association, culminating in your outstanding support, are a testament that, together with you, we will be successful in transforming the lives of millions of farmers across the country,” the citation read.
The association further noted that the Minister’s actions have “left an indelible mark on the soul of the organization,” reflecting the depth of appreciation among its members.
PFAG said the honour represents its collective gratitude for Mr. Opoku’s commitment to farmer welfare and agricultural transformation, expressing confidence in continued collaboration to drive inclusive growth in rural communities.
