The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has successfully dismantled a human trafficking and cybercrime syndicate, arresting five suspects and rescuing 57 Nigerian nationals,
This was according to a statement by the police dated October 22, 2025.
The suspects, identified as Joel Nosa, Collins Rotimi, Shadrack Lulu, Austin Amahuaro, and John Uloko, were apprehended at Adom Estates, Community 25, in an intelligence-led operation conducted by the CID’s Operations Unit.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the syndicate lured young men and women from Nigeria to Ghana with promises of employment and education. Upon arrival, the victims, aged between 18 and 26, were forced to participate in online romance scams and other criminal activities.

During the operation, the police seized 77 laptops, 38 mobile phones, two vehicles, three television sets, and other internet-enabled devices allegedly used in the perpetration of the crimes.
All 57 rescued victims are receiving care and support, while the suspects remain in police custody, assisting authorities with ongoing investigations. The seized items have been retained for further forensic examination.
Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of CID, urged the public, particularly the youth, to exercise caution when approached with offers of employment, education, or travel opportunities through social media or other unverified sources.
She added, “The Police reiterate their unwavering commitment to combating human trafficking, cybercrime, and related offenses, and encourage anyone with credible information on such criminal activities to report to the nearest police station.”
