Rev. Kusi Boateng secures injunction against Ablakwa’s public disclosures

Kwabena Adu Gyamfi alias Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng has secured an interim injunction against North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

Kwabena Adu Gyamfi filed an ex parte motion for an interim injunction on January 30th, 2023 invoking the jurisdiction of the high court for the enforcement of fundamental human rights under Article 33 of the 1992 constitution and Order 67 of C.I 47.

The applicant prayed the court to restrain the North Tongu lawmaker from making further public disclosures of private documents, correspondence, communication, and property belonging to him.

An interim order by an Accra High Court presided over by Barbara Tetteh-Charway, Justice of the High Court, Human Rights Division 1, and signed by the Registrar, Kwame Daniels said the order will lapse after 10 days.

Background

Mr. Ablakwa claimed in a post on social media that Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral, Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, appears to be using illegal means to divert funds from the National Cathedral Project to his pocket.

Subsequently, Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa, on Monday, January 16, petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to probe the GH₵‎2.6 million paid to JNS Talent, a company owned by Victor Kusi Boateng under a different identity.

Meanwhile, the National Cathedral Secretariat has responded to claims of conflict of interest and corruption on the part of Rev Kusi Boateng, Secretary to the Board of Trustees by North Tongu Member of Parliament (MP) Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

In a reaction to the claims by the lawmaker, the Secretariat revealed that payment made to JNS Talent Centre, which the MP linked to Rev Kusi Boateng, was a refund of a loan the company had given to the Secretariat.

But Mr. Ablakwa insists the scandalous transfer of a colossal GHc2.6 million to JNS Talent Centre Limited by the National Cathedral Secretariat deserves to be thoroughly investigated on the back of the latest Ghana Card revelation that fuels the suspicion of the ‘double identity’ of the popular prophet.
