Renowned preacher, bestselling author, and co-pastor of The Potter’s House, Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts has emphasized the importance of healing before sharing personal struggles publicly, urging leaders to prioritize restoration over raw exposure.
Speaking during her interview on Starr Chat with Bola Ray on Thursday, May 29, 2025 on Starr 103.5FM, Sarah said that while transparency is crucial in ministry, wisdom must guide how and when it is practiced.
“Share scars, not wounds,” she said. “A scar says I’ve healed and I’ve survived. A wound says I’m still bleeding and I don’t know how this ends.”
The conversation, which featured both Sarah and her husband, Pastor Touré Roberts, gave listeners a deep dive into their personal lives, their calling, and the principles that guide their ministry.
Sarah, co-pastor of The Potter’s House in Denver and founder of Woman Evolve, highlighted how premature vulnerability can place unnecessary emotional pressure on both the leader and their audience.
“You can’t ask someone to hold space for something you haven’t made sense of yourself,” she explained.
Her words struck a chord with many listeners, especially young leaders navigating the balance between authenticity and discretion in the age of social media.
