Stop the attacks and embark on issue-based campaign – Wontumi’s campaign team to opponents

Wontumi's campaign directorate blasts "needless character assassination" on TikTok and calls on rivals to rein in m

The campaign team for Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has condemned a series of personal attacks and insults directed at its senior leadership on social media, urging rival camps to maintain decorum as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) internal campaign season heats up.

In a press statement released on Monday, May 18, 2026, the Wontumi Campaign Media and Communications Directorate expressed concern over “unfortunate videos circulating on TikTok” by an individual identified as “Boya”.

The videos allegedly target key members of Wontumi’s Campaign Management Team, including Director of Field Operations and Delegate Mobilization, Archibold Cobbina, Director of Political Affairs, Moses Anim, and Director of Special Operations, Nana Fianko.

According to Team Wontumi, a review of the individual’s social media activities makes it easy for “objective observers” to identify which rival national chairmanship bid she aligns with.
“It is still early days in this internal campaign season, and Team Wontumi remains firmly committed to a campaign based on ideas, vision, competence, and Party unity, not insults, intimidation, or needless character assassination,” the statement read.

The campaign team emphasized that their strategy aligns with the issue-based principles championed by the party’s Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

With the NPP eye on the 2028 general elections, the statement reminded party faithful that internal division could jeopardize future electoral fortunes. The campaign urged the general public to disregard the hostile videos and called on opposing aspirants to keep their surrogates in check.

“We respectfully call on the opposing campaign… to rein in their supporters and ensure that this contest remains healthy, respectful, and focused on the collective interest of the New Patriotic Party,” the statement added, warning that the party “cannot afford to destroy one another today and expect to build a united front tomorrow”.

Addressing the internal dynamics of their camp, Team Wontumi highlighted its broad-based appeal, noting that its membership includes individuals who supported various presidential aspirants during the party’s historic January 31st Presidential Primary.

This diversity, they argued, underscores Chairman Wontumi’s commitment to inclusion and reconciliation within the elephant party.

The team concluded by reaffirming their resolve to engage delegates respectfully across the country as Chairman Wontumi campaigns to secure the National Chairmanship slot.
