Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang returned to Ghana on Thursday afternoon after spending several weeks in the United Kingdom receiving medical treatment.
She was welcomed at the Kotoka International Airport by President John Dramani Mahama, First Lady Lordina Mahama, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, her office’s Chief of Staff Alex Segbefia, and other senior government officials.
Also present to receive her were the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Very Reverend Professor Johnson Asamoah-Gyadu, as well as members of the Vice President’s family.

In a brief statement upon arrival, the Vice President expressed her gratitude to Ghanaians for their prayers and well wishes during her recovery. She also acknowledged the efforts of her medical team at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), where she initially received treatment.
She reserved special appreciation for President Mahama and his brother, Ibrahim Mahama, for what she described as their unwavering support and care throughout her recovery period.
The Vice President fell ill on Friday, 28th March 2025, and received preliminary treatment at UGMC before traveling to London for further medical attention.
