Vice President of the Republic Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang has honored 52 pupils who excelled in last year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), with distinction and charged them to maintain a strong moral character as they ascend the educational ladder.
Presenting the awards at this year’s President’s Independence Day Awards in Accra, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang urged the award winners to maintain the standards they have set for themselves, urging them to continue striving for excellence.
The award winners were drawn from both public and private Junior high schools across the 16 regions in the country, including persons with disabilities.

While acknowledging sponsors of the awards ceremony, Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu commended teaching and non-teaching staff of schools that nurtured the awardees and urged them to continue giving their best to unearth more talents for nation-building.
An appeal for social protection and quality education was made by pupils at the ceremony.
