Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has stressed that the current economic difficulties transcend all ethnicities, cautioning the people of Nalerigu not to be misled by the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) sweet and unrealistic promises as the December 7 elections approach.
Speaking during a community engagement in Kulgona in the Nalerigu-Gambaga constituency as part of his two-day campaign tour of the North East Region, the former president highlighted the impact of the economic crisis, stressing that no ethnic group is immune.
“Our brothers came with sweet promises, one district, one factory, one village, one dam, one million dollars per constituency per year and so Ghanaians naturally decided that they will give them an opportunity, which they did. Unfortunately, that opportunity I think has been squandered because today Ghanaians are suffering and the suffering does not know any ethnic groups. Mamprusis are suffering as much as Ashantis.
“Ashantis are suffering as much as Ewes. Ewes are suffering as much as Fantis. Fantis are suffering as much as Dagaatis.
“It doesn’t know any ethnic group. It wouldn’t say because you are Akufo-Addo’s brother or Bawumia’s brother or you are NPP, you will buy cement at a different price,” he underscored at the campaign stop.
Mr. Mahama reiterated that elections have consequences, reminding voters to choose wisely come December 7, 2024.
