Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has reaffirmed his strong support for the Black Stars of Ghana as they prepare to take on Chad in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
In an exclusive interview with my colleague, Monica Bukari, Kofi Adams encouraged the Black Stars to move past the disappointment of missing out on AFCON 2025 and concentrate on the challenges ahead.
“The players themselves I’ve been telling them yesterday I had the opportunity to engage them. I’ve engage others via phone and other medium since becoming the minister and I’ve always told them one thing whilst I don’t want them to erase our failure to qualify for the AFCON from their heads, I don’t want that to weigh them down but rather it should motivate them to play better and qualify for the World Cup” he told EIB Sports.
“I don’t want them to forget because maybe if they forget whatever cost, it could happen again. They use it as a basis to go for something bigger and that is give the nation the world cup, which is bigger than African” he stated.
However, The team knows the stakes are high, and nothing less than victory will be acceptable as they push for a return to the world stage.
Ghana will face Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, before travelling to Morocco for a showdown with Madagascar on March 24.
