Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has disclosed that the head coach has assured him of a new strategy aimed at securing Ghana’s qualification for the upcoming World Cup.
This statement comes amid criticism from some Ghanaians who have questioned the Ghana Football Association’s decision to keep Otto Addo as head coach following the team’s failure to qualify for AFCON 2025.
“The coach himself has told me lessons have been learned, and I just pray that we’re going to see a completely different Otto Addo on Friday. So we all waiting to see a different Otto Addo on Friday and Monday. He’s given me that assurance. And like I’m saying the other departments that help strengthen the coach’s decision-making process is also a good thing”, he stated.
“So if you have Desmond you have Schafer and then you have others that have been added. They help, whatever they bring on board will help the coach to make a decision because his decision will not now be based on him alone. There’s some data that other persons are collecting which helps him in arriving at the decision both, before play during play and maybe after the first half of the game”.
“So that’s what I’m saying. Let’s watch and see the new Otto Addo that he said I should look out for I’m going to look out for that then at the end of the day it should result in a win and not just a win, but a good win that will put us in a good position”, Kofi Adams told EIB Sports.
For the first time in 20 years, the four-time African champions will miss out on the AFCON, set to take place in Morocco later this year, after finishing at the bottom of their group.
The Black Stars will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before traveling to Morocco to face Madagascar on Monday, March 24, for their Matchday 5 and 6 qualifiers.
