Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has disclosed that three Agenda 111 health projects commissioned by former President Akufo-Addo had their civil works yet to be completed.
The facilities at Trede, Oforikrom, and Ahanta West Districts were commissioned two days before the 2024 elections, but there were no plans to hand them over to the Ghana Health Service for operationalization.
Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh indicated that civil works on all the health facilities are below ninety-five percent complete.
According to the Health Minister, only 400 million dollars of the 1.7 billion dollars needed for the Agenda 111 health facilities were released for construction.
“I have been directed by the President to transfer the Agenda 111 hospitals from the presidency to the Ministry of Health and also to oversee their completion.
“Where I am standing is one of the hospitals, and when it comes to hospitals, it is not just about the building alone but also the necessary facilities and staff that make up a functional hospital.
“Upon our inspection, we cannot call this place a hospital because construction is still ongoing.
“Based on the briefing I received from the same consultant employed by the previous government, none of the hospitals have been completed,” the Health Minister said.
