The University Of Health Allied Sciences (UHAS) in the Volta Regional capital Ho, has signed a memorandum of understanding with State Housing Company (SHC) to provide accommodation for staff and students of the university.
In the MOU, SHC is to provide three hundred (300) housing units to accommodate staff of the University. It is also to provide hostel facilities to accommodate about three thousand (3000) students, who find it difficult to secure decent accommodation in the Ho municipality.
The MOU was signed by Professor John Owusu Gyapong, Vice Chancellor of UHAS and Kwabena Ampofo Appiah, MD, SHC.
Professor Gyapong who said providing decent accommodation to staff and student of UHAS had been a major source of worry, was optimistic that the partnership between the university and SHC would be the game changer.
For his part, the MD of SHC, Kwabena Appiah assured the University of timely delivery of the houses when a contract is officially signed.
“We are in a new era of technology and so the days of undue delay in delivery are over. Management is keen to sticking to timelines without compromising on quality,” he reiterated.
Already, the technical team of both institutions have met to begin discussions.
A team of Architects and Quantity Surveyors from SHC also visited the proposed site for the project.
Although the actual contract is yet to be entered into, Management of SHC have started meeting financiers over the project.
