Management of Accra Mall has reportedly paid off the over two million Cedis tax it owes the state after refusing to do so since September this year.
It comes after Officials of the Ghana Revenue Authority stormed the premises of the Mall to shut it down Wednesday morning.
Addressing journalists at the frontage of the mall, the Chief Revenue Officer leading the taskforce Wisdom Kofi Heto said the GRA notified the management of the mall since September of their indebtedness to the state but they had refused to make payment.
Kasapa FM’s Daakyehene Ofosu Agyeman who is following the GRA team reports from the scene that a cheque which covers the entire debt owed by the mall has been issued to the GRA team.
The Accra Mall is a shopping center in Accra, Ghana, located on the Spintex road adjacent to the Tema Motorway. The mall was commissioned on July 4, 2008. It is one of the most modern shopping malls in West Africa and the first large-scale shopping centre in Ghana. It is owned by Atterbury Property Development, Sanlam and the Morladza family.
