The organisers of the annual 3Music Awards in Ghana on Friday (Feb. 11) unveiled the nominees ahead of the main event on Saturday, March 26, 2022.

The awards platform was established by 3Media Networks to recognise and celebrate outstanding musical achievements in Ghana and across Africa. This year’s 3Music Awards will honour artists and their works in over 30 categories, including the coveted Artist of the Year.

Black Sherif, Celestine Donkor, D-Black, Kidi, Kuami Eugene, Mr. Drew, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, and Gyakie are the nominees for the star-studded “Artiste of the Year” category at the 2022 3Music Awards. This year’s edition also witnessed new talents making their debut across some categories, including “Best Alternative Song of the Year,” “Best female vocal performance,” “Best male vocal performance” and more.

Bethel Revival Choir, Dope Nation, Keche, and R2Bees are regular contenders in the “Group of the Year” category, while Knii Lante is a new entry in the “Reggae and Dancehall Artiste of the Year” category, where he will compete with cult artists Epixode, Samini, Shatta Wale, and Stonebwoy.

A year after the 3Music Awards became one of the first major awards in Ghana to take place during the pandemic, sources tell GB Africa that the ceremony will return next month as one of the first indoor schemes to invite fans, stakeholders, and music and entertainment journalists to be a part of the live audience as the country emerges from COVID-19.

The 5th 3Music Awards, tagged “More Than Music”, will feature performances from leading local, African and international artists. The ceremony is to be held on March 26 at the Accra International Conference Centre’s Grand Arena.
