The second round of the Ghana Premier League started this weekend at the various league centers with some interesting results. Here is a wrap of the games.
On Friday, King Faisal traveled to the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope and defeated West African Football Academy 2-1. With just three minutes into the second half, Ibrahim Osman capitalised on a mistake by goalkeeper, Boliver Owusu and scored the rebound. The home team got back on level terms on the 65th minute through Konadu Yiadom who also scored from a rebound. However, on the 86th minute, Osman Ibrahim assisted Mawuli Wayo as he scored the winning goal.
Hearts of Oak drew 1-1 with Legon Cities in a dramatic fashion at the El Wak Stadium in Accra. UEFA Champions League winner, Sulley Ali Muntari on the 11th minute assisted Isaac Mensah with a decent corner kick to break the deadlock for the Phobians. However, the Royals equalised in the dying embers of the game.
In the game between Asante Kotoko and Dreams FC at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi, Cameroonian striker, Frank Etouga Mbella scored a brace to record his 13th goal of the season in Kotoko’s resounding 2-0 triumph over Dreams FC. The Porcupines now sit at the apex of the league table with 40 points.
In Dormaa, Aduana Stars welcomed Anyinase-based Karela United. Leading top scorer for Aduana Stars this season, Bright Adjei scored the opener for his side with a brilliant strike on the 6th minute of the game. He scored his second on the 23rd minute to send Aduana Stars to third place.
Techiman Eleven Wonders whitewashed AshantiGold SC 1-4 at the Len Clay Stadium in an interesting game. Goals from Tetteh Nortey, Zakaria Osman, Andrews Kumah and Laar Ibrahim ensured the Wonder Boys went home wit all three points with Ali Mohammed scoring the consolation goal for the hosts.
Medeama SC stole all the needed points in Bechem when Vincent Atinga scored a 93rd minute penalty. Accra Lions drew 1-1 with Elmina Sharks. Berekum Chelsea were 1-0 victors over Bibiani Goldstars
