Renowned security consultant, Prof. Kwesi Aning has urged political parties to adhere to electoral regulations as Ghana prepares for tomorrow’s election.
Speaking on GHOne TV, Prof. Aning condemned all forms of electoral inducement whether sharing of food or talking to voters to vote for their candidate while in a queue to vote as wrong and called for responsible conduct from all political actors.
“They are all wrong because the campaigning stops and you cannot and must not campaign whilst we are in a queue.
“All that seems to change people’s minds, you can’t stop how they will decide just trying to enter that ballot box. And so parties must be responsible; they must follow the rules and behave in a manner that does not lead to misunderstandings and tensions, let’s be driven by shared principles and values in our party during this vote,” Prof. Aning admonished.
He expressed disappointment over recent instances of electoral inducement during the special voting exercise especially in Ayawaso west on Monday, December 2nd, 2024.
He explained, “And then lies my disappointment with the sharing of food, and even when there was obvious blatant denial, and now the OSP has come into it.”
