President John Dramani Mahama has held bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris, focusing on key areas including health, agriculture, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, regional security, and Ghana’s economic recovery.
The meeting, held on Wednesday, April 8, as part of President Mahama’s one-day official visit to Paris, began on a cordial note, with President Macron commending his Ghanaian counterpart for travelling to Lyon to co-chair the One Health Summit 2026.

He described the Accra Reset Initiative championed by President Mahama as significant and acknowledged its relevance during the summit.
In a major outcome of the discussions, President Macron announced that Ghana has been selected as the first beneficiary of France’s National Health Platform — a health compact aimed at strengthening healthcare systems. President Mahama welcomed the development and expressed appreciation.
President Mahama, in turn, said he was honoured to co-chair the summit and highlighted its importance to the World Health Organization.
He noted that the Accra Reset Initiative had produced tangible outcomes that could be further developed.

The talks also covered collaboration in agriculture to enhance food security and promote year-round farming, as well as cooperation in artificial intelligence, maternal health support, and infrastructure projects such as the Accra–Kumasi expressway.
Both leaders discussed strengthening existing partnerships, particularly through the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), which has supported various development projects in Ghana.

President Mahama also expressed gratitude to France and China for their support during Ghana’s debt restructuring process, adding that the country’s economy is showing strong signs of recovery with improving indicators.
