The Ghana Police Service has arrested four individuals suspected of stealing construction materials intended for the construction of Agenda 111 hospital project at Awutu Bereku in the Central Region.
The arrests were made after a diesel truck (Man), driven by one of the suspects, identified as Kwabena Ayamba, was intercepted by the police. The truck was found loaded with assorted building materials believed to have been taken from the construction site.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the suspects were allegedly contracted by the project contractor to transport the materials from the hospital site in Awutu Bereku to Tema. However, suspicions of foul play led to their apprehension.
The suspects are currently in the custody of the police, assisting with investigations. However, authorities are pursuing the contractor alleged to have orchestrated the transportation of the materials, with the aim of bringing him to justice.
The stolen materials, procured for the government’s health infrastructure project, were meant to help the construction of hospitals under Agenda 111, which is a nationwide initiative aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery across Ghana. The suspects are in police custody assisting with investigations.
