Former Minister for Railways Development, John Peter Amewu, was released after his arrest by National Security operatives on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
Amewu was reportedly detained for questioning in connection with the $2 million failed Sky Train Project.
His arrest is part of ongoing investigations into the botched initiative.
Prof. Ameyaw Ekumfi was first to be arrested while the CEO of the in charge of the company is said to be on the run.
On Monday, March 24, Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, revealed in a press briefing that the Sky Train project, which received $2 million in funding, had failed to achieve its intended objectives.
He disclosed that the company that received the funds in Mauritius was non-existent and announced that prosecutions related to the scandal would begin by mid-April 2025.
The following day, Tuesday, March 25, National Security operatives arrested former Minister for Railways Development, John Peter Amew, for questioning in connection with the failed project.
His arrest was part of ongoing investigations into the botched initiative.
