Thirty-four suspects including two lactating mothers accused of killing Captain Maxwell Mahama have been remanded by an Accra Central Magistrate court.
They have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and murder and will reappear in court on June 21, 2017.
The remanded suspects include six women.
The state prosecutor DSP George Amega pleaded with the court presided over by Ebenezer Kwaku Ansah for more time since investigation is still ongoing.
ARRESTS
According to the police, so far 42 persons are behind bars in connection with the horrendous murder of Captain Mahama.
The Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Ghana Police Service, DSP Sheila Kesse Buckman, told Starr News the youngest among the suspects is a 12-year-old while the oldest is a 57–year-old man.
“So far we have arrested 42 suspects which we believe to be directly connected to the murder of the deceased. Some of them were arrested in the Central region, Western and others from the Ashanti region. The youngest is a 12–year old boy and the oldest is a 57-year-old man,” she confirmed.
She added 35 of them have been arraigned before court and the Police are closely monitoring investigations from the Police headquarters.
The police have pledged to arrest all suspects connected to the killing of the Military Officer.
Captain Mahama was lynched by residents of Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central region on Monday May 29, and he will be laid to rest this Friday, June 9, 2017.
