Domestic Airline Company, Starbow is expected to resume full operations in July, the deputy Aviation Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko has revealed.
Starbow suspended operations with immediate effect in November last year after one of its aircraft on a flight from Accra to Kumasi overshot the runway at the Kotoka International Airport as it attempted a takeoff.
The plane, with 63 passengers and 5-crew members, ended up fencing around the airport, leaving dozens of passengers traumatized.
A 5-member committee set up to investigate the crash blamed the incident on poor weather and the pilot.
Briefing parliament on the outcome of the investigation February this year, the Aviation Minister said following the investigative report ordered the local airline company to review its operational procedures and retrain its crew.
Not long ago, there are news of passengers of domestic airline, Africa World Airlines (AWA) getting stranded and frustrated for hours before being airlifted to their destinations.
This, according to the passengers, who spoke to Starr News was due to the monopoly being enjoyed by Africa World Airlines following the suspension of operations by Starbow last year.
But, that is about to change with the disclosure by the deputy Aviation Minister.
“Currently, as we speak, they plan to come back in July,” Okyere-Darko told Starr Business’ Fred Dzakpata. “They are re-strategizing, re-organizing themselves,” he added.
