Egypt National Team manager Hector Cuper has called up 27 players for camp ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
Argentinean boss Hector Cuper has named a 27-man squad ahead of traveling to Gabon.
Zamalek striker Bassem Morsy who started against Ghana two months ago misses out on camp after falling out with the coaching staff.
Meanwhile, Cuper gave surprise call-ups to Zamalek’s Mohamed Ibrahim, Al Masry striker Ahmed Gomaa & Ismaily goalkeeper Mohamed Awad.
Cuper previously announced 11 foreign-based players will be joining the camp, lead by AS Roma star Mohamed Salah.
Full squad:
Goalkeepers: Ahmed El-Shennawy, Essam El-Hadary, Sherif Ekramy, Mohamed Awad.
Defenders: Ahmed Fathi, Ahmed Elmohamady, Mohamed Abdel-Shafy, Karim Hafez, Hamada Tolba, Ahmed Hegazy, Saad Samir, Ahmed Dweidar, Ali Gabr, Omar Gaber.
Midfielders: Mohamed Elneny, Tarek Hamed, Ibrahim Salah, Abdallah El-Said, Amr Warda, Ramadan Sobhi, Mohamed Ibrahim, Mahmoud Hassan ‘Trezeguet’.
Forwards: Ahmed Hassan ‘Koka’, Ahmed Gomaa, Marwan Mohsen, Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim ‘Kahraba’, Mohamed Salah.
Cuper is set to cut out four players from the preliminary squad ahead of announcing his final draft.
It is worth noting that the currect squad has only four players that have previously had minutes at the AFCON, namely: Essam El-Hadary, Ahmed Elmohamady, Mohamed Abdel-Shafy & Ahmed Fathi.
The Egyptian national team camp preparations are set to start on the 1st of January ahead of the AFCON from the 14th of January to the 5th of February.
