Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association, Nana Oduro Sarfo has reiterated the importance of Ghana’s World cup play offs against Nigeria.
The Black Stars last year qualified from group G ahead of South Africa, Zimbabwe and Ethiopia and are due to complete the last face of the World cup qualifier this month.
Ghana face Nigeria, a power house in African football especially in the West African sub region considering their exploits on the continent.
Despite the poor showing of the Black Stars in Cameroon, Oduro Sarfo is optimistic of the country’s chances against the high flying super eagles.
In an interview on Friday Night Football on Starr FM, the football administrator said this is an opportunity to re-establish Ghana’s dwindling glory against her biggest rival.
“It is the most important dream of the FA to see ourselves in Qatar. So we are putting in everything possible to sail through [to the World Cup]. We want to prove a point to the Nigerians that, we are still better in West Africa. No team reaches our achievement even though we may not be doing well lately”, he said.
The game in Kumasi will be the 57th encounter between both countries. Ghana has 25 wins, 12 wins for Nigeria and 19 games ending in draw.
