The Black Queens players have called on the relevant authorities to urgently address outstanding financial and welfare issues affecting the national women’s senior team.
In a statement, the players said they remain proud to represent Ghana and committed to the millions of Ghanaians who support them, but expressed concern over unpaid bonuses and per diem payments, as well as the need for improved management, mental health and general welfare support.
Among the outstanding payments mentioned are the Egypt 2025 bonus, the WAFCON qualification bonus and group-stage bonuses.
The players also raised concerns about the level of support they have received during their current campaign, noting that the Minister was present only once, during their first official training session, while President Mahama also attended that same session.
They, however, expressed appreciation to their technical and support staff for standing by them throughout the journey.
The statement comes on the back of the Black Queens missing out on automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Ghana still has a route to the tournament through the Intercontinental Playoffs, but must first beat fellow African side Ivory Coast to keep their World Cup hopes alive.
Despite the challenges, the players say they have continued to work hard and represent Ghana with pride.
They stressed that their statement is not intended to create conflict or disrespect anyone, but rather to seek transparency, accountability, fairness and respect.
The players are therefore calling on the Ministry and other relevant decision-makers to engage with them and work towards a swift resolution of their concerns.
“We deserve the same commitment and support that we give to our country,” the Black Queens players said.
