Running mate to Alan Kyerematen on the Movement for Change’s ticket, Kwame Owusu Danso has dismissed claims the campaign asked for former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s support to bolster their standing in the upcoming December polls.

Mr. Kufuor who was speaking with some journalists in an interview aired over the weekend offered a full-throated endorsement of Vice-President Bawumia, urging Ghanaians to elect him as the 6th President of the 4th Republic.

The former President said the election of the NPP presidential candidate will “elevate the country to the next level” and guarantee a “safe future for Ghana”.

However, He noted that Mr. Kyerematen had the knowledge and experience to address the challenges facing the country and would pursue the objective of winning the Jubilee House to the best of his ability.

Mr. Danso also denied assertions that they had been turned down by the former President Kufuor, saying that they had “never” gone after his endorsement in the first place.

“No no, not at all. None that I know of,” he said emphatically to Starr FM’s Lily Mohammed. “Per the discussions that we’ve had, I do not think he went to former President Kufuor and if he did, it is unbeknownst to me. But I can tell you confidently that His Excellency Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen is a very knowledgeable person, very patriotic, someone who knows what he’s about and strategies about Ghana.”

He described his running mate, Mr. Kyerematen as a transitional leader who deserved to be given a chance to lead the country.
