The Ghana Police Service has arrested a man identified as Opoku Emmanuel for allegedly threatening police and military personnel in a viral video circulated on social media.
The arrest was carried out by the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) in collaboration with officers at Jacobu in the Ashanti Region.
In the video, the suspect, who appeared masked, allegedly warned police officers against attempting to arrest armed robbers and threatened to kill any security officer who confronted him.
Police investigations later identified the masked individual as Opoku Emmanuel.
He was arrested on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Jacobu in the Amansie Central District. The suspect is currently in police custody and is expected to be put before court in the coming days.
