NPP deceived the public into believing that there’s no ‘dumsor’ – Asah-Asante

Political analyst Dr. Asah Asante has defended the new National Democratic Congress (NDC) over fears of an energy crisis. He expressed confidence in the current administration’s ability to address the issue.

Speaking on Morning Starr with Naa Deide Tettey, Dr. Asah-Ashante noted that while the NDC was in opposition, they could only raise concerns about the looming energy crisis, which largely went unheeded. However, he criticized the former government for misleading the public, claiming that they downplayed the severity of the situation by denying the existence of ‘dumsor’ (power outages).

Asah Asante argued that these deceptive statements were a failed attempt to cover up the mounting energy challenges, which have now come to a head.

Asante also acknowledged the seriousness of the current energy crisis but expressed optimism about the current administration’s ability to solve the problem.

The political analyst commended the current government for taking proactive steps to resolve the issue and expressed confidence that the administration, with its clear and direct approach, will be able to overcome the energy challenges.

“How could they have done that when they were in opposition? The best they could have done was to speak about it, which they did. But all fell on deaf ears. The government did not listen, deceiving the public into believing that there was no ‘dumsor’. You heard those statements: ‘No ‘dumsor’ anywhere, we are repairing, we are improving the system and all the noise about dum sie sie”.

“When the people get to know the truth, they will change the path for either rewarding or punishing you. Today, the real issue is staring us in the face. That’s why I am telling you, we don’t govern with lies, deception, and manipulation. The good news is that this government has done it before. It is not going to be something that is different to handle. I am sure it is not out of their reach, so they should be able to put their house in order and address the problem head-on. In governance, there is always a day for reward and punishment.”

“With this start of approach, whatever the challenge is, this government will be able to surmount it. I am happy that these things are coming up now, and the president has put a team together to work on it. That is how governance ought to happen.”
