The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has secured the conviction and sentencing of a five-member robbery gang responsible for multiple violent robberies in the capital, including incidents at Jos Bakery in Dome and ACP Junction.
According to a press statement issued on Monday, May 26, 2025, by the Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, Superintendent Juliana Obeng, the gang members were arrested through targeted intelligence-led operations and have all been sentenced to various prison terms by the Kwabenya Circuit Court.
Two of the gang members — Isaac Agbezudor, a 20-year-old mechanic also known as “Money Man,” and Justice Akwasi Sarfo Oppong alias “Gariba Manta” — carried out a robbery at Jos Bakery in Dome on May 11, 2025, using an unlicensed motorbike and a locally made pistol. They assaulted bakery staff and made away with a Tecno Pop 8 smartphone worth GH₵1,500 and a handbag containing valuables.
Agbezudor was arrested on May 14, 2025, and confessed during interrogation, leading to the arrest of Gariba Manta on May 22 at a hideout in Amasaman, where police recovered the pistol and live ammunition used in the robbery. Agbezudor was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment on two counts to run concurrently, while Gariba Manta received a 15-year jail term.
Further investigations linked Gariba Manta to an earlier robbery incident at ACP Junction on February 5, 2025, where he and three others — Bright Alikor alias “Zaamani,” Emmanuel Nii Odartey Lamptey alias “Chameleon,” and Prince Owusu alias “Check Boy” — used knives and scissors to rob a woman of an iPhone 11 Pro Max, Samsung tablet, and GH₵6,000 in cash, inflicting knife wounds on the victim.
All three were arrested in subsequent covert operations and sentenced to 15 years each in prison.
Police say they are also pursuing a suspect in Koforidua believed to have purchased the stolen iPhone.
The Regional Command commended its intelligence and operations teams for the swift arrests and urged the public to support crime-fighting efforts by sharing credible information while assuring informants of utmost confidentiality.
