A new “top-of-mind” poll of National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegates conducted by Global InfoAnalytics has placed the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, popularly known as “General Mosquito,” in the lead as the preferred candidate to succeed John Dramani Mahama in the 2028 elections.
According to the Week 1 findings, Asiedu Nketia secured 28.0% of responses, significantly ahead of Ato Forson, who placed second with 12.1%, emerging as a strong contender.
Haruna Iddrisu followed with 7.8%, while Kwabena Opoku-Agyemang garnered 6.1%.
Other figures in the poll include Julius Debrah with 5.5%, Okudzeto Ablakwa at 1.7%, and Joshua Alabi with 0.5%.
Additional mentions were recorded for Eric Opoku, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Muntaka Mubarak, Spio-Garbrah, and Kwabena Duffuor, all polling below 1%.
The poll, which captures spontaneous preferences from delegates, included every potential candidate mentioned, offering what researchers describe as a “true picture on the ground.”
Analysts note that while Asiedu Nketia currently leads, the gap suggests that Ato Forson remains a significant challenger in the race toward 2028.
