President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians to uphold confidence in the country’s democratic institutions, emphasizing that national stability depends on collective respect for the rule of law.
Speaking at Jubilee House during the swearing-in of Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie as Chief Justice, President Mahama reminded citizens that strong democracies are built not only on laws but on the trust and cooperation of the people they govern.
Addressing the nation, he said, “And to our citizens, I say let us continue to place our trust in the institutions of our Republic, and let us resolve our disputes peacefully and in accordance with the law.”

The President underscored the importance of defending the Constitution through actions as much as words. “Let us defend the Constitution, not only in word, but in our actions,” he noted, stressing that democratic growth requires everyday commitment from government and citizens alike.
