The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has officially launched the GHOne TV Alumni Power Games, which is currently underway today, April 11, 2026, at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.
Speaking at the opening ceremony as Special Guest of Honour, the Minister reaffirmed government’s commitment to reviving school and college sports across the country. He noted that the initiative is being driven by the Sports Ministry with support from the Education Ministry, in collaboration with GHOne TV.

He emphasised the importance of balancing academic work with extracurricular activities, stating that while students must prioritise their studies, there should also be room for sports and other developmental engagements.
“As government, we are working to reignite school and college sports,” he said, highlighting the role of partnerships in achieving this goal.
Mr. Iddrisu also announced that the Ministry of Education will officially launch a National SHS Alumni Fund on June 12, 2026, aimed at strengthening alumni support systems within the country’s educational institutions.

Describing the event as a commendable initiative, he expressed appreciation for the platform created by GHOne TV to bring alumni together through sports.
“It is my honour and privilege to be associated with GHOne TV’s Alumni Power Games, and I officially declare it launched,” he stated.

The GHOne TV Alumni Power Games has brought together alumni from various senior high schools for a day of competitive sporting activities, entertainment, and social engagement.
