More than 28 health facilities across Ghana have been enrolled under the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, popularly known as MahamaCares, to provide medical support services to eligible Ghanaians.
The Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, announced the list during the Government Accountability Series held on Monday, May 11, 2026.
According to her, the patient support programme will initially operate through 29 selected hospitals strategically located across the country to ensure equitable access to healthcare services.
“At the Government Accountability Series on Monday 11 May, the patient support programme will initially be delivered through 29 enlisted hospitals strategically distributed across the country to ensure equitable access to all Ghanaians,” she stated.
The facilities include major referral and teaching hospitals such as Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Cape Coast Teaching Hospital and Tamale Teaching Hospital, as well as several regional, municipal and specialist hospitals.
Mrs. Darko-Opoku explained that beneficiaries must meet three conditions to qualify for support under the fund: applicants must be Ghanaian citizens, possess an active Ghana Card, and have a medical condition covered under the programme.
She also stressed that applications for support would not be handled manually at the Secretariat.
“No one can walk directly to the Secretariat to request for support; the process is digital and dignified,” she said.
