Businessman Ibrahim Mahama has pledged support to Emmanuel Asamoah, a Ghanaian affected by xenophobic attacks in South Africa, by offering to establish a cement distribution and construction hardware depot for him in Ghana.
The support follows assurances Mr. Mahama gave to the Minister for Foreign Affairs regarding his commitment to assisting Ghanaians returning home from difficult conditions abroad.
At a meeting held at his office together with Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Mr. Mahama appealed to Ghanaians living in South Africa to consider returning home and contributing to national development through employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.
According to him, Ghanaians facing hardship abroad should return home to either venture into business or learn a trade, stressing that he is willing to support such individuals based on their skills and interests.
As part of the intervention, Mr. Mahama presented Emmanuel Asamoah with GH¢200,000 to enable him take a one-month break to reunite with his family before returning to Accra to begin his new business venture.
Emmanuel Asamoah has voluntarily chosen to transition into the hardware business, leaving behind his nails and hairdressing business in South Africa.
Mr. Mahama also commended Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa for his dedication and commitment to the welfare of Ghanaians living in the country.
He further encouraged Emmanuel Asamoah to remain disciplined, focused, and resilient as he begins a new chapter of his life in Ghana.
