The Twifo Praso Magistrate Court in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region has fined two invigilators and two teachers GH¢3,000 each for their involvement in examination malpractice during the ongoing 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The court, presided over by His Worship Cephas Atidzoe Esq., with Chief Prosecutor Joseph Kusah leading the prosecution, convicted the four after they were found culpable in separate examination malpractice offences at their respective centres.
The convicted persons are Mr. David Kwabena Mensah, Mrs. Ruth Ampah, Millicent Marfo, and Mr. Kennedy Anokye.
According to the court, Mr. Mensah was found guilty of leaking an examination paper, contrary to Section 4(b) of the West African Examinations Council Act, 2006. The 38-year-old reportedly used a mobile phone to photograph examination questions and shared them via WhatsApp.
Mrs. Ruth Ampah was also convicted for aiding candidates by dictating answers to them during the examination. Her actions breached Section 20(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, as well as Sections 6 and 9 of the WAEC Act, 2006.
Meanwhile, Millicent Marfo and Kennedy Anokye were found guilty of conspiring to illegally possess examination materials, contrary to Section 23 of the Criminal Offences Act and Section 3 of the WAEC Act. The two reportedly acted together at the Twifo Praso Senior High School Examination Centre.
