National Democratic Congress Communications Team member, Roger Wills, says sanctions imposed by the courts can serve as a check on people who make comments that cross the limits of acceptable conduct.
Speaking to Isaac Addae on Morning Starr, Roger Wills cited the case involving Abronye as an example, arguing that after he was held in contempt for speaking against the court, he has not repeated such comments.
“You see when Abronye spoke against the court and was held contempt. Have you heard him speaking again like that? No!”
According to Roger Wills, the development demonstrates the importance of allowing the law to operate when individuals cross the limits of their freedoms.
He maintained that laws are intended to check people’s conduct and ensure that individuals are held accountable for what they do and say.
“Laws are meant to check people.”
Roger Wills therefore called for support for law enforcement agencies and the courts when they take steps to hold individuals accountable, arguing that such actions are necessary to ensure that constitutional freedoms are not used to infringe on the rights of others.
He maintained that such actions by the courts are necessary to serve as a check on individuals and ensure that people remain accountable for what they say and do.
