The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, says government intends to establish a Senior High School at Abura Gyabankrom in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese Constituency of the Central Region.
According to the Minister, the proposed school will expand access to secondary education for learners in Abura Gyabankrom and surrounding communities.
The announcement follows an appeal by traditional leaders in the community for the establishment of a Senior High School during the commissioning of a newly constructed and fully furnished Junior High School block.
The three-unit JHS block, constructed by the Kabaka Construction Team within a year, comes with auxiliary facilities including a conference hall, headteacher’s office and separate washrooms for staff and students.
The facility has also been equipped with furniture, computers, a refrigerator and stationery.
It is currently the only Junior High School in the area and is expected to admit pupils from neighbouring communities, helping to ease pressure on existing schools while providing learners with a safe and modern environment.
Haruna Iddrisu commended the Kabaka Foundation for its continued contribution to education and the welfare of learners, describing such interventions as important in complementing government efforts to expand educational infrastructure.
Founder and Chairman of the Kabaka Foundation, Nana Owiredu Wadie I, said the project forms part of the Foundation’s commitment to community development and expanding access to quality education across Ghana.
The Foundation expressed appreciation to the Education Minister, the District Assembly, school authorities and residents of Abura Gyabankrom for their support and partnership.
It said it looks forward to continued collaboration with stakeholders to improve educational opportunities and contribute to the development of children across the country.
