The Ghana Mini Football Association has unveiled its female national team as it seeks to build on the country’s recent successes and strengthen Ghana’s position on the international mini football stage.
The unveiling follows Ghana’s participation in the 2026 Mini Football Africa Cup of Nations in Libya, where the Ghana Sparks returned home with four trophies after an impressive campaign.
Ghana is currently ranked fifth in Africa and 17th in the world, according to Association President Bernard Paakow Ekumah, who said the recent achievements had further boosted the country’s standing in the sport.
He said Ghanaian players also made a strong individual impact at the continental tournament, winning Man of the Match awards in four of the five matches played.
“We came with four trophies, and for the five games that we played, we had Man of the Match awards in four of the games,” Ekumah said.
Despite the progress, the Association says it is aiming higher and wants Ghana to rise to the top of the African rankings.
“Our target is that, with our ranking in Africa being fifth out of 47 countries, we want to go to the very top,” Ekumah said.
The Association plans to sustain the momentum by developing more players, improving preparations for international competitions and creating opportunities for young people to take up mini football.
Ekumah also called for increased investment from corporate organisations and other stakeholders to support the growth of the sport.
He expressed confidence that sustained support could help Ghana achieve greater success while creating more opportunities for young talents.
