The Ghana Police Service has arrested two Nigerian nationals in connection with the suspected sexual assault and murder of an 11-year-old girl at Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region.
The suspects, identified as Kingsley Ozor, 40, an autobody sprayer, and Jeffery Otaigbe, 19, an apprentice, are in police custody assisting with investigations into the death of the girl, identified as Blessing Innocent.
According to the Central East Regional Police Command, the investigation began after the victim’s mother reported her missing to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Gomoa Buduburam District Police on Monday, October 19, 2026.
The mother told police that her daughter had been missing since Saturday, October 17, 2026.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the girl visited the two suspects, who are neighbours, at about 8:30 a.m. on the day she disappeared. It was reportedly the last place she was seen.
The police arrested the two men on Tuesday, October 20, following investigations into the case.
“In the course of interrogation, the suspects Kingsley Ozor and Jeffery Otaigbe admitted the deceased was with them on the above date,” the police statement said.
The police say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the girl’s death.
The case has renewed concerns over the safety of children and the need for suspected crimes against minors to be thoroughly investigated.
The suspects remain in custody as police continue their inquiries.
